Welcome to Spring, 2021!

This is the best place to post the District Admin Team presentation for all who are interested, to access. The presentation reviews the many virtual initiatives Special Olympics has rolled out, and we look forward to lots of neat things over the coming months, especially with the Reveal Your Champion program and the Virtual Games platform. Team Ontario Announcement: Winter Nationals 2020, Here We Come!

Athletes will compete in Alpine and Nordic skiing, snowshoe racing, speed and figure skating, curling, floor hockey and 5-pin bowling. March 25th: Special Olympics Day Across Ontario
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary year for the Special Olympics movements, communities across the province held events with local Law Enforcement Torch Run and Knights of Columbus, to mark 50 days until the Invitational Youth Games. Below the photo shows St. Joseph's along with SOO-Barrie community athletes joining Barrie Police in the celebrations. There was great turnout in communities across Central Ontario! ![]() |
Special Olympics: United Around the World!
(click on title to go to post with photo) In March, SOO-Orillia athlete Stephen Graham will be travelling to Abu Dhabi to participate in the Final Leg of the Torch Run for the Special Olympics World Summer Games. Stephen is one of eight athletes world-wide who were selected for this amazing event. During his time there, he will be part of the Polar Plunge: yes, a pool of cold, freezing ice! Stephen is asking for donations for this event. 100% of the funds Stephen raises will come back to Special Olympics Ontario, with 50% of the donations being directed to programs in Orillia. Please support the vital services that Special Olympics provide by donating online. "Thank you in advance for your generosity."
