(please click on the title to go to the full post with photo) On Friday, Owen Sound swim coach Willie Bayne was re-presented with the 35-year award she received at the SOO AGM and Awards Ceremony earlier this fall. (Another Central volunteer who received his 35-year award was Ray Walt of Peterborough.) Willie was congratulated by the City of Owen Sound, by Provincial and National levels of government, but the YMCA, and by the many athletes she continues to coach with the Owen Sound Otters swim club. I asked Willie how she first became involved, and she said she had read about the good work of a local volunteer at the time (1980) who was involved with swimming for people with special needs. This was the foundation for the current Special Olympics club. Now, it's Willie's turn to inspire others! Thank you, Willie.
