What A Night! SOO AGM & Awards

Congratulations to all the award recipients at Special Olympics Ontario's Annual General Meeting, held November 9th in Markham, Ontario. Central Ontario was well-represented on the stage, with Female Athlete of the Year Cathy Smith from Barrie (pictured) and School Team of the Year Bracebridge Muskoka Lakes Secondary Basketball (pictured). Years of Service recipients for 25 years of dedicated included Marlene Leigh of Orillia (pictured) as well as Janet Collins of Collingwood, Wendy Evans of Central Bruce, Joan and Rae Henry of Huronia, and Bill Strode of Peterborough.

Here are a few words from Cathy Smith:

Thank you for the coaches and the volunteers that trained me well for the World Games in Los Angeles. Thank you for picking me for the Female Athlete of the Year. I am honoured to receive this award. I have been involved with Special Olympics for 20 Years. I enjoy sports with other athletes and my sports are 5 pin bowling, track and field and snowshoeing. Thank you, Cathy Smith.
